Claude Code

Folder in every kit: claude/. Starter projects already have these files installed.

  1. Copy claude/CLAUDE.md, claude/AGENTS.md and claude/.claude/ into your project root. CLAUDE.md starts with @AGENTS.md, which imports the shared rules, so edit AGENTS.md rather than CLAUDE.md. If you already have a CLAUDE.md, add the @AGENTS.md line to it.
  2. Run claude, then /context, to confirm that CLAUDE.md and the imported AGENTS.md loaded.
  3. For risky folders, put an AGENTS.md next to the code with a one-line CLAUDE.md (@AGENTS.md) beside it. Claude loads it when it works in that folder. The Rules Pack has examples in examples/local-rules/.
  4. Run /record-decisions at the end of a session to append decisions to the log in AGENTS.md.
  5. Skills appear as slash commands, for example /plan-feature add billing page. Side-effect skills such as /commit-work set disable-model-invocation: true, so Claude never runs them on its own. If a skill doesn't trigger when you expect, see how to write a SKILL.md that actually triggers.

Format notes

Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md, not AGENTS.md, when a CLAUDE.md exists, which is why the import line matters. Imported files still count toward context, so keep AGENTS.md lean (every kit's is under 23 KB). Kit CLAUDE.md files are under 20 lines.
